From nature, with the next season in mind.

The blueberries we seek grow with the land, water and changing seasons. Choosing an ingredient also means understanding the environment that produces it. Using what we receive carefully and considering what remains afterwards are part of the approach we are developing at Blue Bear Cove.

01 / LIVING TOGETHER

Looking beyond the fruit.

BEAR represents us as part of nature, looking for good blueberries. We aim to bring that perspective to sourcing: considering the fruit alongside soil and water management and its relationship with the surrounding environment.

We also want to explore ways of giving back. From understanding suppliers and growing conditions to packaging and its disposal, we will examine and improve the choices within our reach.

02 / MATERIALS

Recycled materials. Another use ahead.

Blue Bear Cove is developing packaging that uses recycled materials wherever possible and can be recycled after use. Our aim is to reduce the need for new resources and give previously used materials another purpose.

We choose materials with food safety and product protection in mind, including keeping frozen blueberries protected and moisture away from freeze-dried fruit. This also means exploring more opportunities for recycled content and structures that are easier to recycle.

We consider both the use of recycled materials and collection, sorting and reprocessing after use. Looking towards the next purpose of each pack, we will continue refining materials and structure.

03 / PACKAGING

Size and structure for the contents.

We aim to provide the space needed to protect each product while reducing unnecessary empty space and extra layers. Whole freeze-dried berries are light but bulky and delicate, so weight alone cannot determine the smallest suitable pack.

Individual 30 g frozen and 5 g freeze-dried packs call for a balance between convenience and packaging use. We consider the amount of material alongside the size of each pack.

Resealable zippers are part of every pouch, including the outer bags, 30 g frozen packs and 5 g freeze-dried packs. The spread uses a glass jar with a screw-on lid. Each product has its own storage guidance.

04 / INFORMATION

Use well, and dispose of correctly.

The next use of packaging starts with emptying and separating it correctly. We will provide disposal instructions for each material and the local collection system. Product information will also explain recycled content and the conditions needed for recycling.

Product use & storage guides

Recycled content and recyclable packaging are development goals for Blue Bear Cove. Materials, proportions and the extent of recyclability will be shared once final specifications are confirmed.
